Can someone explain who this person is and why this is relevant? People crash out all the time; you can seek balance without "cold turkey", unless they find no value in the web at all, in which case why bother to post about it? Who is the audience of this website, if this is their last post?

I think this is the author submitting it himself. The blog has lots of published entries with links under the same user.

A one paragraph rant at the top of HN (at least as it displayed to me) probably shouldn't be there, but FWIW the post did resonate a little with me if OP is reading this

Mental health is a problem in the US and not properly addressed. Some people find an outlet in writing a blog. Almost anything that helps is good in my opinion, outside of violence.

There are also a bunch of whiny people who can’t handle life or go ballistic if their “wrong” president is elected or society does not agree with their little pet opinion of how the world should be. Unfortunately HackerNews is full of this second category. That’s why it is trending here.

It’s difficult to know which category this one is, but since the first category can lead to really bad outcomes, it’s best to assume good intentions and I won’t judge. Unfortunately, statistically speaking ONLY, this could be the second category.

reading the post, if you have the discipline, start with something like sewing or football? And if we are not talking adrenaline, then books for the other S word. But point would be for "I want to wake, live the whole day in the moment", you'll have to fall too hard; almost in love with it.

Made me think maybe they can rig up the blog SMS to blog and go low tech while still writing well!

  • gnabgib 45 minutes ago

It did? Even though you also submit this blog like OP?

This being the top post of an (extremely) online forum is… interesting.

But it is Hotel California and they can check out anytime they like.

I require the internet in order to stay educated about my government, without it I would have a limited understanding of how my taxes are used. As much as I would like to "turn it off", I can only get the New York Times 4 days after it comes out.

  • eightysixfour 19 minutes ago

Do those 4 days change your behavior?

I want to log off too but mostly because AI slop and bots are taking over. Old Internet was trash but at least it was human trash.

Why is this upvoted.

user8 has done some popular HN posts.

    • nofriend 39 minutes ago

Have they? The most popular post from this domain is 5 days old and has ~500 points. Hardly a crowd favourite. The submitter seems to be the author, but doesn't have any more popular posts. A search for "user8" on algolia turns up these posts, and nothing else that was at all popular.

you can call 988, if you need mental health help

The internet it shit now which is why I’m in full support of all the deanonymizing legislation that a lot of countries are trying to pass. It was a good time while it lasted. We didn’t think it would end up this way but it did. More information did not make the world better, instead people decided to create their own fake, bullshit realities instead.

  • oceanhaiyang 49 minutes ago

Interesting take. I’ve never seen someone be for this but I can agree that not being anonymous would force some people to potentially act better, but then there’s Facebook.

benatkin 52 minutes ago

The author's 1000% wrong. Online is the world.

  • oceanhaiyang 50 minutes ago

This authors reaction appears big but there is truth to it. Your comment is truly delusional. Online is the world? Come on.
