For some reason I missed the news item of your first link (-25807199) and it's now closed. As you'll note from my long spiel about blue dyes/pigments at the above link, I would have liked to post to this earlier story too. It's a shame HN doesn't have a way of consolidating duplicates or very similar items together. It's also a nuisance that HN closes off posts after such a short time (as above). A while back I promised to get back to someone I was having an ongoing technical debate with and when I couldn't post to the discussion it was left open-ended (the discussion was technical and I hadn't the time to reply immediately). That's now happened to me on a number of occasions.
